Formed by three visionary musicians living across the diaspora, the band merges the deep pulse of traditional African rhythms with the rich textures of jazz, funk, rock, and reggae. This is not fusion for the sake of novelty; it is music as motion, carrying the weight of lived experience, memory, and movement across borders.

The name Tamala translates to “travelers”—a structural and artistic reality defining everything the band creates. Singing in a rich tapestry of languages including Wolof, Mandinga, Swahili, Luganda, French, and English, the group treats African presence in the diaspora as something alive, active, and constantly reshaping itself. Built both for international festival dancefloors and intimate spaces of reflection, Tamala Tribe delivers an urgent, conscious sound that refuses to sit still.
